Club Caisse

Information for Parents / Guardians

Club Caisse is a program for all children 17 years and under. They can participate either through a school administered program or directly through your neighbourhood Caisse. If your child is participating through the school you will be provided with instructions on how the program works and how you can help your child make his or her deposits. If your child is not participating through the school all you need to do is open a Caisse account for you child and he or she will automatically become a member of Club Caisse.

Whichever method is used to join, Club benefits are exactly the same – only the method of making a deposit is different.

As a parent or guardian of a Club Caisse member you will have the opportunity to help your child learn good savings and financial habits. In addition to general Club and prize information, the Club’s website contains links to a number of projects and learning aids that you can use with your child to increase understanding of financial concepts.

Tip

Saving is easier when you have a goal. Determine with your child a special purchase or project that can become the focus for your child’s savings habits.

70 years of economic education for young members.

Our children’s economic education becomes more and more important in our consumer society. For over 70 years, Manitoba Caisses have participated in the economic education of its young members. Today, we still naturally continue to support parents and schools in this area of education.

The nature, mission, values and principles of action of the school and the Caisse are alike. Both institutions aim at providing education towards financial independance for individuals and their communities. We are pleased to share with you our educational approach to saving along with cooperative values for young members through our Club Caisse educational program.

Club Caisse is based on the same principles as the Caisse scolaire school program; Club Caisse has simply been improved and modernized.

It is our sincere hope that our collaboration can be of use to you in providing economic education for children of all ages.

Club Caisse’s Objectives

  • Promote the educational and cooperative mission of the Caisse.
  • Demonstrate that the Club Caisse school program is a worthwhile concept to initiate children’s saving habits and budget management while countering financial illiteracy.
  • Encourage parents to participate in and closely follow the educational process of their children through the Club Caisse school program.

How to participate in Club Caisse

At school:

  • Once a week (or all other frequency), your child will bring home his or her Club Caisse booklet and a deposit-envelope on which appears a deposit slip.
  • Help your child decide on the amount to deposit according to the money that he or she has in his possession and small expenses he or she will be making during the week.
  • Help your child fully complete his or her deposit slip: information, deposit, signature, etc.
  • Have your child put the money and the booklet in the envelope and have him or her seal the envelope that he or she will return to his or her teacher the next day.
  • The following week, with your child, verify if the transactions were correctly registered in his or her booklet.

At your Caisse:

It’s easy; your child only has to open an account at his or her neighborhood Caisse if he or she is not already a member. If your child is already a Caisse member, he or she automatically becomes a member of Club Caisse. Your child can participate in the Club Caisse “Save and Win!” contest and can enter to win excellent prizes!
