“Ma Petite Caisse” – a big step forward for financial literacy for kids

Caisse Financial Group and the Centres de la petite enfance et de la famille (CPEF) (family and early childhood centres) are proud to work together to launch a new financial literacy program for children 3 to 5 years old and their parents.

The official launch will take place on October 6, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Ste. Anne CPEF located at École Pointe-des-Chênes, where Mélanie Brémaud, the CPEF’s host animator, will welcome children and their parents to the ‘Ma Petite Caisse’ program.

Mélanie was responsible for developing the learning modules for ‘Ma Petite Caisse’, ensuring that they are both fun and educational for children ages 3 to 5 years. “I’m so excited to offer this new program and introduce the concept of money to children. They will play with money and learn how to spend, share and save money. At each session, they will deposit money in a piggy bank that they will receive as their reward at the end of the five-week program. ”

Diane Bilodeau, Vice-President, Marketing and Strategy at Caisse Financial Group explains that this partnership is an integral part of the financial education program that the Caisse has been working on for several years. “We already have a partnership with the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM) and Junior Achievement Manitoba to deliver financial literacy presentations in Manitoba francophone and immersion schools. This new partnership with the CPEF allows us to reach preschool children and their parents to promote the importance of teaching good financial practices to children at an early age. ”

And the ‘Ma Petite Caisse’ program is not only for children. While the kids are having fun with games and activities, their parents are learning sound financial management by watching videos and reading information specifically created for them by Caisse Financial Group. Ms. Bilodeau says, “By learning good financial practices, parents can then become good role models for their children.”
