Privacy Statement
Your Caisse is committed to protecting the personal information of its members,
employees and other individuals. In order to protect all personal information
collected, used or disclosed by the Caisse, we have adopted the Caisse Code for
the Protection of Personal Information.
On our web site, we only collect personal information required
to improve the services we offer, to improve our site content and, with your
permission, to contact you with information about our services. We will not
share any personal information obtained on this web site with any other
organization without your express knowledge and consent.
Information we collect on our site
You can visit all public areas of our site without providing any personal
information about yourself. Our web site collects only non-personal information
based on a visitor's Internet Protocol (IP) address (this is not personally
identifiable). Information collected includes the date and time of visit, the
type of Internet browser used to access the site, the referring address (the
link a visitor uses to access the site). This data is used to create statistics
on site usage and improve online services.
To help us manage our web site, we set a cookie on your computer
that expires when you close your web browser.
If you send us an e-mail, any information provided by you will
only be used for the purposes of responding to your inquiry or acting on your
request. We will not use your name or e-mail address for any other purposes
without additional consent.
Links to other web sites
Our web site contains links to other web sites that are part of, affiliated
with, or have a business relationship with the Caisse. When you leave our site
to visit one of these other sites, the only information transferred to the new
site is the fact that you came from the Caisse's web site (the referring
address). Transmission of this referring address allows other sites to monitor
their own web traffic, but does not disclose any personal information about
you.
Notice
The Caisse reserves the right to amend its Web Site Privacy Statement and its
Privacy Code at any time with or without notice. Please check this page
periodically for changes.

A Tradition of Respect for Rights
As co-operative financial institutions, Manitoba Caisses have a long history of
respecting the rights of their member-owners, and we are committed to the
development of policies, procedures and service offerings that maintain those
rights.
Your Caisse Board of Directors has adopted the Caisse Code for
the Protection of Personal Information, related policies and procedures, and
appointed a Privacy Officer. You are entitled to review the Code at any time,
access your personal information, or contact the Privacy Officer about a
privacy issue or concern. Through these actions, what has been our accepted
practice becomes our documented commitment to you, the member.
The 10 Principles of Our Privacy Code
Here is a summary of the 10 Principles of the Caisse Code for the Protection of

Your Personal Information
We hold personal information about members to help us meet and maintain the
highest standards of financial service. This information can include your name,
address, age, income, use of accounts and credit history, as well as the
relationship of others linked to you in account services.
We obtain this information from you directly, and from the
product and service arrangements you have made with or through us. Information
is also obtained from credit bureaus, other financial institutions and from the
references you provide us.
We Only Collect What We Need
We only collect personal information from you for the following purposes:
-
To understand your needs and to develop, offer and manage products and services
that meet those needs;
-
To determine the suitability and your eligibility for member products and
services;
-
To evaluate your credit standing and to share or exchange reports and
information with credit reporting agencies;
-
To detect and prevent fraud, and to help safeguard the financial interests of
the Caisse and its members;
-
To meet legal and regulatory requirements.
Safeguarding
We have security safeguards and standards in place to protect your information
against unauthorized use and access.
Your information is retained for as long as required and then
destroyed.
We May Ask Others For Information About You
Most information is obtained directly from you, but with your consent, we
may ask a third party for information about you.
Example: if you are applying for a loan, we may contact the
credit bureaus for information about your credit history.
We May Share Information
To provide you with a service, we may release information about you to our
affiliates and other financial service partners.
Example: if you are requesting to have your personal information
printed on your cheques, we must provide the cheque production company with the
information.
Some of our affiliates and financial service partners include:
Visa Desjardins, Desjardins Financial Security, Credit Union Members Insurance
Society, Credential Group, Ethical Funds Inc., and others.
Limiting Your Consent
If you wish to limit your consent you can obtain the Privacy Exception Form at
your Caisse. This form provides you with an opportunity to limit the uses and
disclosures of your personal information. You can mail, fax or personally
return it to us.
Note: You can limit or withdraw your consent at any time,
subject to legal or contractual obligations. For example, your Caisse is
required by law to provide a record of your interest earnings information to
the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.

Protecting Your Privacy over the Internet
|
|
Password
Whenever you receive a temporary password we strongly encourage you to change
it, as soon as possible, to something confidential and private, which only you
would know. When changing passwords, you should avoid anything that includes
information someone else knows or has access to, such as birth dates,
addresses, numbers found in your wallet or words associated with you. Your
passwords are private and absolutely no one has the authority to obtain them
from you at any time, including Caisse staff or officials. Do not tell anyone
your password. Your browser may give you the option of saving passwords for
you, but for security reasons we do not advise you to use it.
Cookies
Web sites often collect non-personal information in small text files called
"cookies" when you enter web sites. Some sites will place a cookie on your
system so you don't have to identify yourself by entering a password each and
every time you visit a site. The Caisse uses session cookies on its sites,
which are only stored for the length of time you are in the site and are used
only to provide easier access while there. They are not used to identify users
or to track usage. If you use the browser's option of saving a password, it
will be saved in a cookie.
Browser Encryption
We require that 128-bit encryption be used when conducting financial
transactions over the Internet. While every effort is made, through the use of
industry recognized security standards, to continually protect personal
information from misuse and alteration, the Caisse and its affiliates do not
guarantee the security of your information over the Internet. If your browser
does not support 128-bit encryption, you will have to download and install a
version of your browser that supports it.
Cache
Always log out of any site where you have viewed or sent personal or financial
information. For added security and privacy, clearing your browser's cache at
the end of every on-line session is a good habit to get into. The purpose of
caching is to make your browser more efficient by eliminating the need for it
to reload previously viewed pages every time you visit. However, it also allows
anyone to view those pages. You can clear your cache by deleting items in the
Temporary Internet Files folder in your file manager, or through the browser
itself.
E-mail
When you forward e-mail to the Caisse, we recommend that you use caution and do
not include confidential information in those messages, as they are not
encrypted. E-mail is very similar to that of a post card and along the way
someone can read every word that has been written.
Upon receipt of your e-mail, we may store your correspondence
and exact e-mail address for future communications directly with you. Under no
circumstances do we sell e-mail addresses or share them with any other party.

Who to contact?
|
|
Your Caisse Board of Directors has appointed a Privacy Officer for any concerns
on privacy issues.
The Privacy Officer
The Caisse Privacy Officer is your point of contact if you wish to raise any
matters regarding the use of your personal information.
The Privacy Officer is responsible for monitoring information
collection and data security, and ensures that other Caisse staff receives
appropriate and ongoing training on privacy issues and their responsibilities
under the Code. The Privacy Officer also handles all privacy inquiries and
personal information access requests under the Code.
Ultimate responsibility for our compliance with the Code rests,
however, with the Caisse Board of Directors.
Concerns on Privacy Issues
In most cases concerns on privacy issues can be resolved by contacting your
branch. However if a problem is not resolved to your satisfaction you should
contact the Privacy Officer at your Caisse by either mail, e-mail, phone, fax
or in person. Click on your Caisse to view their details.
